Wolverine Classic - Saline, MI
2-27-10:
Hear the distress call! "WHAM!" Hit the phone booth.
"BOOM!" Don your cape and most comfortable spandex.
"POW!" It was
time for the Wolverine Classic's 'Be The Superhero' meet. The Lady
Flames Caped Crusaders answered the distress call. Some fully
vested in their capes and alter egos; some rendered cape-less by their
arch-nemesis and the bars made of kryptonite!
The Level 7 team placed
2nd led by Samantha Smith. L8 Karadjoff felt no ill-effects of the
kryptonitic uneven bars. L9 Delina Phillips stuck a 9.6 vault.
L10 Amanda Stepp repeated her Chicago vault (Tsuk 1.5) for a 9.7.

IGI Chicago Style - Chicago, IL
2-14-10:
What can be said that hasn't already been said about IGI's Chicago Style
Meet...? Great meet, great location, well organized, great
competition, oh ya... largest women's artistic gymnastics meet in the
world! 4300 competitors in 6 gyms competed this weekend.
This included 24 of the Lady Flames.
Some highlights:
Level 7 Team - 2nd
Level 6 Team - 5th
Level 5 Team - 4th
10 out of the 24 Lady Flames who participated placed
1st on vault! Nice accolade. This included Level 10 Amanda
Stepp, who performed her Tsukahara Tucked 1.5 for the first time ever
and received a 9.725 for her efforts! This was good enough for the
gold medal in her session as well as a tie for the 2nd best Level 10
vault for the entire event! (6 sessions of 10's) There were some
impressed college coaches :) |
